Give a Boy an Ax for Christmas...

My father used to say "give a boy a hatchet, and the world looks like a tree to chop down" At SCO, repeatable processes, some quick testcases, and relatively versatile logic was my ax; it got me through the Smallfoot Design for ROLO (anyone seen Jack?), replication, ARM, ATF, MIT, etc quite reliably. "Make the tool smarter, and it scales". When Kenny-G would call me up, all flattery and jokes, I could say "3 days, $5k; 5 days total for the additional images" Now I work for a company that does… Continue

About the Google Ads

The screen real estate on the right hand side of the screen is "owned" by ning.com, who hosts the site otherwise for free. They can be made to go away for $20 a month, but right now I am neither inspired to eat this myself, or hassle the "sponsorship" drama to make it go away. dme

About ocston

About Ocston Ocston (spells what backwards?) is the "son of ocston.org", the original SCO-sponsored employee web site. Our goal is more modest: simply to provide a single source for ex-SCO people to stay in touch on the net. The SCO family was a very special and magical community world-wide: this site is meant to help that community stay connected. ocston.com gets a major update!

OK, like me, you've probably all been spammed with a zillion "gotta join the latest social network" emails -- you know, or risk being a real "L7".

But here's a network you ALREADY belong to, updated with 21st century social networking capabilities -- blogs, forums, streaming video, you name it! Best of all, (for everyone) it doesn't rely on the very part time attention of yours truly to stay up and running!

You will however need to re-enlist, as we're now hosted with ning.com; you'll need to create a new profile (check out ning's services!). If you're already an ocston member or otherwise ex-Santa Cruz Operation (pre-Caldera/SCO Group), send me a note and I'll make sure to forward you an inivte (or ask any other member).

"Classic ocston" is still available at classic.ocston.com -- for the next few months only while we make the migration happen.

For more about ocston, see my about ocston blog post.

Meanwhile, enjoy the services here to the max, post your videos, comments, and unabomber haikus -- please!

Looking for a couple of ocston admins

One of the great things about hosting ocston on the ning network is I don't have to maintain (or not) any of the code.  And another great thing which I'd like to exploit is that I don't need to be ... Continue
